Robb Murphy is a multi-talented artist from Belfast, Ireland. His inimitable style derives from his engineer/producer background, which he uses to compose his own material. He then takes his work and records it in his own studio. In a way, he is a true do-it-yourself, or “DYI Indie.” Being a producer gives him access to advanced technology that makes a strong song come to life and achieve its full potential.

Robb’s style is devilishly difficult to place into a genre (This is a good thing!) It’s rare sound contains a pop, electronic and folk/country flavor – (Add a smidgen of his Irish heritage.) Murphy’s distinctive voice is extremely addictive and is only emboldened by his uncanny lyrical ability. Take a Stand brought my ears into a whole new dimension – and only an exceptionally talented artist can do this for me!

Key tracks … all of them – they are all upstanding. In fact, it is extraordinarily difficult to single out any one song on the CD as the “best pick.” They all give something different and are all outstanding. I feel Robb writes from his life experiences. This is what gives each song has its own moving message. I find this is a near perfect CD in all aspects. This is an absolute must-have CD for your collection.

“Noises” is perhaps my favorite, with a theme about losing one’s way. It is a highly inspirational song – both lyrically and rhythmically. “I Follow” is a particularly emotive track and easy to relate to. “Take a Stand” is a toe-tapping and soul-searching journey that rocks your very being and leaves you wanting to hit play over and over again. Robb Murphy is a name to watch out for! I think Robb has the potential to be up there with the greats.
